Unfortunately I don't know the details of why it is like this. I just know that it is the finished product.

slightly OT, but One Chicago Square is going to pop up to the west of 401 Wabash and appear slightly shorter?

Vista really balances the eastern section out well! The tallest section looks thin, but not NYC stick-like thin.

Yes it will be west of Trump in front of One Superior Place. You can actually see the crane a bit in the second photo. As it's more south, it should appear about in between Trump & Chase in height from Montrose. Very pumped for it to start peaking out!

^ It's going to have a great impact from this angle. For what it's worth, I believe it will appear to reach at least 3/4 of the height between Trump Tower and Chase, maybe even closer to Trump's last setback before the crown.

EDIT: Oops, I realize now that this is not the One Chicago thread..

Looks like they've done over 12 stories since the photo was posted: https://public.earthcam.net/vista/vi...er_view/view_1

Been on a hunt to get some shots of Vista's south facade with the chancing colors of fallen the foreground. Burnham Wildlife Corridor & Northerly did not disappoint.

^Beautiful. The black louvers don't really bother me anymore, especially in these photos. It's like the importance of a belt that matches your shoes, when contrasting Vista with Sears and Hancock.

Thanks. And same. But I can't help but think they could produced the louvers in a blue/teal color that would have better camouflaged them. Maybe they tried it out and it looked worse.

Another 8 floors on NW corner received spandrel glass, with column glass in progress this morning.

I could imagine if you try to match the color, sometimes it would look great, and others the lighting might shift and cause the louvers to pop too much.

Has anyone else seen the Facebook advertisement where the marketing team Photoshopped out the single floor partial louvered floor below the middle setback? They must not be totally pleased with the way it came out either.

Nope, they are all the same color. That's just an illusion because the lighter glass makes the black spandrel seem more gray.

I've seen this building many times in person and in photos, and I am fairly certain it's not just an accidental optical illusion. If anything being surrounded by lighter glass should make the louvers look darker by comparison.
The design team did something with the louvers at the widest points so that they sometimes appear lighter than those a the narrowest points. It may not be color, since I think the louvers are the same color as the window wall frames, but it could be the spacing or the orientation of the bars that make up the louvers, or maybe even the color of the backup screening, that is causing the effect.

This^... the louvers, however misguided, are definitely two distinct paint colors... the lighter gray adjacent to the lighter glass, etc...
