Nice find Bro.

For any of you who have wondered why Grove Street curves into 9th Street, this image shows why. Prior to the Connector, Grove was the westbound leg (yes, once upon a time Front was one-way eastbound) of the Front/Grove couplet. The two came together at Capital Blvd to form one intersection (similar to the way Main and Idaho come together at Broadway/Warm Springs).

This image also shows Capital as a two way street from the river to Front/Grove, as the 9th Street bridge wasn't built until '88 or '89.

You can also see the old Foster's "Warehouse" sign in this image...Nice!

Thanks Again Bro

Hard to pin down the date exactly, not a lot happening downtown in the mid 80's. Both photos would be pre-87 as the Eastman building is still there and no 9th Street bridge. The first set of photos show Murray's drive in still standing. When did it go away?

Going back a little more, you can see a remnant of the original Grove mid-block between Front and Main. That curved section was probably done when they built One Capitol Center (999 W Main) and was part of the early BRA works of the late 60s early 70s. Assessor says 999 W Main was built in 1973 while CCDC says 1975. Also, iirc, the curve has something to do with the buried Boise City Canal (Grove Street Ditch).

The 1890 birds eye view illustration shows the original layout. Note this is before the railroad and I think it's understated how much the railroad changed things, both when it came to town and then when it left.

Note: The CCDC history page once mentioned the relocation of Grove St but seems it's been edited out. More here: http://www.ccdcboise.com/the-agency/history/

PreFunk

Located on Front and 11th in Downtown Boise, PreFunk desired to expand on an already tight urban site to respond to customer demand. The solution; add a rooftop patio and upper tap room.

This study includes rooftop serving bar contained within a re-purposed shipping container, a new rooftop patio with fabric shade structure and access stairs.

I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised how the Residence Inn turned out. I was so-so on the renderings (mostly because it's brown), but it's much nicer than I anticipated.

Interior looks good, too.

I'm hoping they wrap up the Fowler soon--maybe then they'll reveal what The Nest is all about.

Agreed. Also thanks to the others for posting their photos.
Architecture Buff, that lobby looks really nice.
Sawtooth, your 5th & Idaho updates in your thread are really nice, as are the Hilton pics. I hope they are installing super sound proof windows on the Front Street side.

Some Monday morning news:

Bown Crossing:
The last infill piece is going in. It'll break up the more "traditional" development pattern of Bown crossing.

10th and Main:
Finally moving forward on the remodel. Its similar to what was proposed before, but some minor changes. They've added a 5th floor as well.

My wife's cousin is the owner of the new downtown Residence Inn and we had a chance to tour the building on Friday. It was wonderfully done and in a great location.

He said their occupancy for the first night was 60 rooms booked and the second night was full. It's definitely off to a great start. The tenth floor rooms are not quite ready but will be soon. The Dunkley Room is a small conference or event room with great views. All rooms have stylized photos of Boise. I can't remember the third photo, but one is of the Capitol building and another is of the Old 8th Street Bridge.

The Garro Building on Bannock was repainted this month.
I'm sure a lot of you in Boise who look at this thread already knew that.

This is one of my favorite historic buildings downtown so I tried to find information online of this buildings original history without any luck, but I did find this, maybe this is how the building got its current name.:http://www.basquemuseum.com/content/...t-adelia-garro

Anyways, here is before and after. Opinions of the new paint job?

Early October

meh... the new paint scheme is pretty boring. looks like the building is just covered in dull gray primer. the old, more colorful version was better.

here's an interesting aerial from the statesman from about 1950, with the old ballpark not too far to where the proposed new one will go.

I'm not sure about that new paint scheme either. Why did they even repaint it?
