Looks like PastaBar got a sign...but the entrance isn't on this side, what gives? Are they planning to build another entrance?
Park stuff...
Cityscape crane looks like it will rise today, lots of what appeared to be prep work was going on this morning about 8am. There is glass on the south side, but it's very recessed...I guess they are planning some sort of balconies on the south side of the building? Also, looks like Wells Fargo is now in the mix instead of Wachovia (seeing how Wells Fargo bought Wachovia) and Fidelity National Title.
Central Park East has just two floors of glass to go, aside from the glass in the crown. I like that the corners will step back inward for the last couple floors so it will give it a nice visual appeal.
Finally, the bonus shots. I love old brick buildings like these...wish we had a whole lot more of them around.
Whatever that is in the 2nd photo looks cool. That's going to be one cool looking park when finish.
How's the construction going there in PHX? I've been hearing that alot of projects all over the country are being put on hold due to the bad economy.
But looking at these few photos it looks like work is still moving forward.

Cool bonus pictures. I agree, I wish we had more warehouse structures like that... in fact, i was looking at that old Phoenix aerial you just posted in the phx development thread. There is what looks like a huge brick warehouse in the lower right side of the photo. There aren't any like that in Phoenix left, I wish we still had that, rather than what's there now (I think the jail).

Its a shade structure in the park that leads from the street into the park that also has solar panels on the top side.

Downtown construction has slowed considerably, but we luckily have a few projects that started before the downturn so theres still stuff going on. One Central Park East is about done on the outside as you can see, CityScape which was originally going to be 4 towers and has now been scaled back to two (and perhaps just one). It also will have a low rise retail area (4 stories or so) and a park/plaza in the middle of it. We also have ASUs school of Nursing building under construction (approx. 5 stories), and a new court tower building is going to start soon.
Planting them in a park is ridiculous. Parks are supposed to be lots of grass, lush green, and cool. This one is looking like it will be another heat island providing no respite from the hot, and no feeling that you have escaped to an oasis (which would provide relaxation) in the hot, aird, shitty desert.
John, John, John.... only 10% of the plants are gay.
ALSO - grass is coming, more plants are coming, shade and more shade than any other park around, colored pavers yes, but you can't expect all grass. It is not that kind of park. It is a city park, not the "Let's go play football or baseball. We have plenty of those in the burbs.
so the park is 4% gay then once you take the grass and pavers into account. Thats not bad. The park by my house is 100% gay because it is covered in gangs.
Though there is still hardscaping where gravel or grass could otherwise exist, these are not typical pavers. They are using a very porous cement, specfically designed to improve moisture drainage, and decrease heat absorption.
I'm actually really looking forward to what the park's final product will look like several years mature. Many the trees being planted are oak, which as they grow, should look exceptionally nice. Considerably here in Phoenix.
