That pano must have been done in the past couple of days. I wonder if GrampaGrumps has heard of SkyScraperpage? Just imagine what it will look like with NS Power complete, Salter apartments, United Gulf, Roy building, Discovery Centre Tower, Nova Centre, International Place, Waterside, TD expansion .... (did I miss any). Oh yes - Halkirk, Trillium, YMCA ...
Interesting how visible the YMCA project would be from this vantage point. Because of the change in elevation buildings in behind also look somewhat taller (the Martello or Paramount are about as tall as some of the ~12 storey office buildings downtown).
I am kind of surprised that the Trillium isn't visible yet. It will look like a much more impressive project when they raise the tower crane.
So when I made this my desktop, and put it to 'strech' it does a pretty groovy effect on the skyline. Everything looks way taller and the city looks amazing. Try it out.
Two photos from the "front" and "back" of Halifax (King's Wharf and Mount Royale respectively). The Hollis@Morris crane is visible in the first and the 6955 Bayers crane is visible (and a bit of the building) in the other;
Great shot!
You know if Halifax really got it together if it wanted to, you could have a very wide and impressive skyline (not that it isn't already) and especially from this angle. I'll be there in less than a months time so it'll be nice to check out different vantage points of downtown and the harbour if I can find any. Suggestions? I'll have more than enough time to explore the area over the week I'm there.
