My junior college alma mater has a new attraction. This looks like something I might be able to handle.

Fun?

OK dony, I apologize for the hormone joke. Can't remember the moron joke though.

btw, I wouldn't mind living in Ithaca for the warm six months of the year, If I could get one of the penthouse condos/aparments going up downtown, and if I got to move back south during the winter.

Here's some articles covering a range of things.

School system is supposedly attracting new residents:

http://www.theithacajournal.com/apps...605200309/1002

Lots of road projects scheduled in greater Ithaca (sems like ever time I visit at least a couple of big road projects are going on, but still no freeways to link the city to the outside world).

http://www.theithacajournal.com/apps...605200314/1002

Some new construction near downtown, I guess they decided against steel girders.

Never heard of this before. Any of you guys familiar with this type of cemetery? I guess it makes sense environmentally, but it sure would be tough to visit the gravesite if you're a couple of generations removed.

I sometimes forget how small Ithaca really is. Here's the headline article in today's paper:

And I thought that the Caroline Town Talk and having every DUI arrest on the paper's website was a dead giveaway to the smallness of the Ithaca area.

Another proposal for converting the use of an older downtown office building. I would imagine the views of downtown will be quite nice since the building sits on a bluff overlooking the Commons area downtown.

http://www.theithacajournal.com/apps...605310328/1002

Hope it works out.

^ Nope, it was the old victorian and the 3 story 1960's one next to it that have already been converted.

This artcile got to me. It's in a suburb of ithaca (yes you smart-asses, Ithaca does have some suburbs). I use to have a fear of getting rabies when I was a kid (one kid in my hood had to get the shots after some animal bit him). Scary stuff:

OK you rascals, let's roll up the sleeves, grab the sledge-hammers and get to work.

http://www.theithacajournal.com/apps...606070334/1002

We gotta get that project rollin'

btw, here's a cool pic of my old hood I found on Flickr (courtesy of willjessps). The really bright area in the middle of the pic is Ithaca College.

Finally had a chance to look at everything

For those of you not acquainted with Ithaca, the view from Seneca Street isn't even the steepest street down that hill. If you went north a block and loooked down Buffalo Street, you would probably have a small heart attack. Back in the day (Not mine, but my mom's) when it snowed, the hill would be closed off and people would sled down it).

As far as the parking garage goes, while I have had some issues with the Cayuga Green project, I agree with getting rid of the Helix, but cannot believe that not a single company wanted anything to do with tearing that thing down. You would think that some company would put a bid of some kind in just to see.
