Well, bear in mind that the original tower ran out of money before completion, soooo.....

I think it’s good to compare the current economic & social situation with the one the original tower was proposed before drawing conclusions. The final outcome partly depends on Artis, and unless they make an official announcement, it’s likely we wouldn’t know

And my honest opinion is that decreasing the future potential of this project only because of a temporary hardship (might not even be as hard for them as we think) is short-sighted, and they likely won’t do that. Imagine how much Artis can make with this project. This project can stay relevant for a long time, even after it’s surpassed by height in the future

Sarcasm does not translate very well over the Internet. Never had. Never will.

If anything, they should stay the course, like many other multi-family development projects going on around the city, albeit in a reduced capacity for obvious reasons.

And ~1130am, the concrete boom is moving about. Neat to see that things are still happening. Hope the workers are able to stay safe.

The core and glazing are primary focus right now down here. Ain’t too much else happening within.

I don't know, I think a stump of a buidling would look terrible. I hope it is completed to its original height.

The proportions wouldn't be terrible if the building were 16 storeys... it wouldn't look all that stumpy. If it the 20+ range it would look like a normal tower. But yes, of course, the taller the better.

I really love that picture, looks great. It'll be a really nice view if 416 Main St ever gets developed too.

Not to beat a dead horse but I hate how disconnected the corner of P&M is. When I saw this picture thats the first thing I thought about. It would be cool in the future to be able to walk along Main St from Graham up passed the taller and newer buildings and into the Exchange District. Sigh Winnipeg lol.

At this point basically two more development sites can create that feeling we are all looking for... the McIntyre Building site at Portage and Main, and the east side of Main where Earls and its parking lots are. You put two or three minimum 10 storey buildings on those sites and they would really change the feel of the street. Of course filling in some of the other lots would help too, but developing those two sites would probably provide the critical mass needed to change Main for the better.

Looks like there is some kind of form-work going up on the west side of the core. I have not seen that on any of the other previous floors. It is on both sides of the core and appears to be a full floor in height.....it doesn't look like safety fencing.

Looks like it has to do with the sheer wall (I think that's what it's called?)
