Me neither
FW....that
is until yesterday.
For the home of such a well known architect, it seems rather elusive.
Besides that brief glimpse of the house at the beginning of the silent film
'The Grim Game', there seems to be only ONE other photograph of the house.
(the one I posted yesterday from John Cox's 'Houdini' Blog).
What bothers me most about the destruction of the Bergstrom Estate is that it was designed to survive earthquakes...it would have stood for years!
I bet it was a bitch to tear down.

Now for that building across the street.

FW, I noticed this building yesterday while I was snooping around the perimeter of the old Bergstrom Estate.
Here's the
gsv I saved.

I was taken by how mysterious it looked, and would have bet money it was deserted (note the painted-over windows along the top)
And if you look closely, there's even graffiti spray painted on the walls.

Here's a wider look at the place (also from Clinton street) -the view from Juanita Ave is mostly blocked by trees.
below: an aerial to give you an idea of the lay-out.

Back to the Bergstrom Estate. (whiplash!)
A portion of the original Bergstrom Estate wall might have survived along Juanita Avenue!

close-up of bricks
for comparison
Fresh Paint [1919]
The bricks look about the same size don't ya think?

p.s.
John Cox over at the Houdini blog noticed the old wall too. Here's his pic.
