We could really use a 30 story office building downtown.

Cool man! You should zoom on the skyline from that angle. Looks pretty sweet.

Lots of stuff happening around the Cable Wharf area of the Halifax waterfront. The left crane is for the TD building. Right now they are building an addition in front of it that will be connected to the existing tower. It's going to get a few floors taller and will have much nicer cladding with windows facing the harbour.

There are also plans to do some work along the waterfront itself. It will be interesting to see what happens with some of these proposals: http://breakhouse.ca/33839/248238/al...suite-proposal

The 'Breakhouse' link you provided looks fabulous. It's precisely the type of development needed here. Halifax has a very interesting waterfront with some great historical elements and mixed uses: the Bluenose, a casino, Historic Properties, NSCAD University, military, a museum, restaurants, cruise ship docks, condos, Pier 21, retail, etc. This would add to that inventory nicely.

Gah, I spent 20 minutes reading about Breakhouse and then couldn't remember which thread it was from.

Awesome proposal. It not only looks great but there are SO MANY excellent ideas. It's way more than just a pretty building.

I miss living downtown in Hally.Great core for a city of that size, and really enjoying the new work being done. TD getting a little latter and some of the re-purposing of property has done wonders.

Great Winnipeg shot! Just realized yesterday that the Manitoba legislature is the tallest provincial leg in the country!

Yes. (But the Saskatchewan Legislature is the largest.)

I like both BC and Quebec's better. But out of the traditional styled domed leg's of the prairies, MB's is definitely the best.

I prefer the Manitoba legislature above all of them.

Just as a fun side note, here is a little Manitoba Legislature trivia for ya.........

As soon as you enter the front of the building there are 2 very imposing solid stone buffalo on each side of a lovely central staircase. They were built for the legislature with their dimensions in mind to make sure they could fit thru the front doors. Well when they were done and delivered they realized that yes, they fit thru the doors but they weighed so much that there was no crane available to lift them up, thru the doors, and thru the short lobby to the main areas where they could use another crane. They simply weighed to much for anything to lift them very low off the ground and yet 10 meters forward.

They were screwed and at a total loss of what to do. Well when winter came someone got a bright idea and they went with it. They cleared out the entire front entry area including the inner dome area, turned on the water and flooded the whole damn thing. They then just opened the front door and let Manitoba's bone chilling cold do it's job by freezing the water and then simply sliding the buffalo into the front lobby.

And before you ask, no that is not a belated April Fools joke but rather a quirky Manitoba fact.
