People really do...to me it just seemed like another midsized city in New England but with a good photo tour like this one, it sticks out!

Great thread! There's something for everyone in here. I've never been to Hartford, but your photos have me wanting to change that.

Quite a large looking downtown for a city of its size!! I like the old buildings as well. Great job.

I like the residential tower. Kansas City could use a few of these in and around their downtown!!

I love Travelers Tower, the Capitol, Wadsworth Atheneum (which wasn't pictured) and of course the Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial Arch.

That is downtown's tallest residential tower, and may still be the tallest residential building between NYC and Boston (that was its claim to fame). It is a nice addition to downtown, its apartments have filled up nicely and the downtown YMCA is in the downtown however the retail section is pretty vacant.

In terms of old architecture, Hartford does have a lot but SOOOOOOO much has been torn down it is downright sad. Books of the old Hartford show pictures that are completly changed. The sadder part is, the city still tears down historic buildings.

That Capitol Building from certain angles is downright bawdy! God love her!

I adore Hartford's street names!

The Travelers Tower is a gem.
