And here's another photo that I shot the other night. I have gone out with my camera a few times in the last few weeks (there isn't that much else to do).

This is looking easterly from Henry Street to the Brock Road interchange in Whitby:

Perhaps something like helping widen the 403 overpass WB at the 407 in Mississauga would be useful as that is made much more expensive work by the existence of the 407 interchange, or maybe building the flyovers at the 403/QEW in Oakville to allow for a full tolled bypass of southern Halton Region for QEW traffic.
The 407 had a study a few years ago to construct the missing ramps at both Ninth Line and Donald Cousins in addition to constructing traffic signals at the ramp terminals at York/Durham Line. I'm not sure what the construction timeline on either of those projects would be.

From what I understand, either the MTO or IO paid to construct the interchange at Whites Road. Though I don't have more specific information about that project aside from that.

The westbound ramp carrying the 403 through the Mississauga interchange is going to be an issue over the long term. It's due for a minor rehab (waterproof the deck, replace the expansion joints etc.), but it's a pretty narrow overpass and there is too much traffic to shut down a lane for a long term construction project. Apparently they looked at widening it, but it's either too difficult or too expensive to widen such a long post-tensioned bridge. So I don't know what they will end up doing there for the long term.

But those would definitely be things the 407 could pay for for a speed limit increase.

For 407, I doubt you can slip in another interchange at Centre Road because it will be too close to the ones at Dufferin Street and at Bathurst Street.
For 401, that's an interesting photo. All I remember is that there are a lot of lane merges by Ajax Go (end of express-collector system). There's a sign that says that the rightmost lane ends in 900 m.

A partial interchange was proposed for Centre Street when the 407 was first constructed.

An full interchange at an extended Kiping Avenue was originally proposed as well, but obviously that's never been constructed either.

Is the 401 now 4 lanes between the Ajax bottleneck and Brock St? Haven't driven that stretch in over a year now, which is hard to believe.

How many lanes can that new bridge accommodate?

It’s not, they added an auxiliary lane from the 412 to Brock Street from my understanding for the eastbound direction only.

The EA when completed a while ago considered an ultimate 10 lane cross section east of the 412 from what I recall, so that’s what the bridge would have been built for.

Ah, I see. The ridiculous bottleneck lives on, in all of its unfortunate glory.

Photos looking easterly from the Doon Valley Pedestrian Bridge overtop of the 401 towards the Grand River Bridges. Work is very much underway to replace the twin Grand River Bridges:

Views of the 401 through the Hespeler Road widening. Like the photos up thread, these photos were taken earlier this week:

View looking westerly through the Hespeler Road (Hwy 24) overpass. Machinery is in the median to place the footings for the central pier. The form work for the outer abutments are visible on either side of the highway:

Two views looking westerly towards the Hwy 24 interchange from the Franklin Boulevard interchange. The partial interchange at Franklin Boulevard has been closed during this stage of the construction project:

The 401 widening through KWC seems to have been taking about 3 centuries.

I would hold on tight here, because it will take until the end of 2023 construction season to complete this contract. By the end, it would have 8 years to widen 8 kms of highway. That's 7 years of construction, since they didn't start on the current contract in 2020.

Don't forget about the project around Guelph that will widen the 401 between the two Highway 6 interchanges.

Then the gaps between Cambridge-Guelph and Guelph-Milton need to be widened to make the 401 8+2HOV minimum all the way from Highway 8 to 410.

Canada's longest/highest flyover ramp on a proposed highway interchange expansion to build GTA West at the 401/407ETR junction.

SB to EB connections

Would there really be that much demand for such an expensive structure for that link? I can't see it being used too much? A loop may be better and looks like it can fit so long as it goes over/under the 401EB to 407EB connection.

Two views looking easterly from the Trafalagar Road overpass towards the Highway 407 interchange. The westbound off-ramp to Trafalgar is currently closed to allow for grading at the ramp terminal. Additionally, most of the concrete paving for the new ramp from the westbound 407 to the future westbound collectors is now in place:

A series of views looking both west and east on the 401 from the Avenue Road overpass. A pavement rehabilitation project is underway to rehabilitate the concrete road base on the eastbound express lanes through here:

View looking westerly from the Avenue Road overpass.

A fifth eastbound lane has been temporarily added to the collector lanes while the express lanes are reduced.

Easterly view from Avenue Road.

View looking easterly overtop of the eastbound express lanes. The dowels that link the pre-existing concrete to the new slabs have already been drilled and grouted into the pre-existing concrete road base in advance of the new slab being poured.

Zoomed in view of the previous photo. The ever growing North York Skyline is visible in the distance.

I took this earlier this evening. I quite like it because the moon is in shot. This photo is looking easterly from the Brock Street (Highway 12) overpass in Whitby.

Story of my life whenever I make the mistake of driving on the 401 in Mississauga.

Could you imagine how much better things would flow if half the trucks were taken off the road? Trucks, Trucks, Truckity Truck.
