Which railway crossing is this? The one by the interchange between 11 & 17?

I was wondering the same thing. It is the only railway crossing on 17 within the city borders.

And judging from that photo, there’s only 2 lanes. It looks more like one of those random crossings between Sudbury and Sturgeon Falls.

I wonder if it is just a stock picture of a rail crossing in the area. I don't know of any other crossing that looks like the picture though.

It does look close to it though.

Where else has tracks that have an overhead light system that is in view of the escarpment?

I didn’t know that traffic at the transition from 417 to 17 would get this bad on Canada Day “weekend”.
I’ve driven in that direction on a weekday in late August 2016 then in early Saturday morning in late July 2020, and I’ve never seen anything like this.
There was no accident or construction (only cones).

Does it really surprise you? It makes sense that where there is a reduction in lanes without a reduction in traffic.

But I’ve never seen 417-17 this busy the previous times I went.

I guess not. It was summer though. Weekends would have been for cottage run anyway.

#tbt Highway 17 @ Deep River, taken near the end of last November.
At this point, it’s closer to North Bay (173 km) than to Ottawa (205 km).

In all surprises, the freeway northwest of Kakabeka Falls won’t use the current alignment either.

I’ll be interested in knowing where to find the rest of the alignment until Shabaqua. I can’t find anything in the zoning maps of the neighbouring Conmee Township. Beyond that, it’s the unorganized part of T Bay District so I’m totally lost there.

Probably buried in the provincial website.

The Municipality of Head, Clara and Maria, which has no fire station (so where properties burn to the ground if caught on fire), is looking to get an agreement on auto-extrication with the Town of Deep River for the stretch of 17 through the municipality (from Rolphton westwards to Nipissing-Renfrew boundary).
