With a budget of 450 billion Iraqi dinars, the largest Sport City will be built on 150 acres of land in Kirkuk. The project has been approved by the Council of Ministers.
The project first formed under Abdulrahman Mustafa, former Governor of Kirkuk, and was handed to the Minister of Councils. The Council of Ministers approved the project on February 26.
Jabar Muhamad, director of the Kirkuk Sports Directorate (KSD) said, “The project was offered in the time of the former governor in August of 2011, but we have responded now.” The project is to be implemented with 450 billion ids on 150 acres of land. Muhamad added, “We’ll announce the implementing company in one or two days, which will begin building the facility next month.”
The location of the project is on the Kirkuk-Erbil road, near Shwan T-junction. The project is supposed to be implemented in three years, with all its stadiums, closed halls, 5-star hotels, cafés and restaurants.
