What the hell was the point of this post? The conversation was over yesterday! Why aggressively single out one poster unless you are trying to rekindle a flame war? If you're into that sort of thing please stick to the philly.com comments section.

Personally, I'm ready to get back to development but . . . let me just say, for the record, that I have a bone to pick with the posters who have an off-topic bone to pick with the posters who have an off-topic bone to pick with the posters who have an off-topic bone to pick. And for anyone who has an off-topic bone to pick with me because I have a bone to pick with the posters who have an off-topic bone to pick with the posters who have an off-topic bone to pick with the posters who have an off-topic bone to pick, well, you can just stick that pickin' bone up your off-topic arse.

So there.

Now . . . say, aren't all these spiffy new developments nifty? Discuss.

I'm not "into that sort of thing" which is exactly why I posted what I did. The person I was replying to was singled out because almost all of his posts up to that point were confrontational and not development-related. And by the way, your reply to me is hilariously hypocritical. If you want to discuss this further, PM me. I don't want to waste any more forum space on this petty rubbish.

At any rate.

There were cars parked again on this lot today. It wasn't full, but there's a few. I don't get it, I thought they closed it down. Maybe it's people associated with the project?

If I remember correctly, someone said they were just getting soil samples, and groundbreaking won't be for a couple more months.

Which project do you think will get off the ground first? This or SLS?

Oh interesting. Good question, I have no actual knowledge of the timescale of either, heh. But SLS did get their final approval in May. They have to demolish what's there first though, so that might slow them down.

Plus, they have to do some asbestos removal/remediation before they can begin demolition:

Quote:
There are currently two buildings on the site, including the former home of Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff's recording studio. These will be torn down, but first the asbestos must be removed.

Kelsen said the hope is to start remediation in late fall or early winter, with demolition to follow and construction to begin as soon as the site is clear.

Based on what's been said here and elsewhere, I definitely would expect construction to begin on the W Hotel before it begins on SLS International.

Developers said this would break ground before September 1st. SLS won't be until the end of the year.

Or even early next year: "the hope is to start [asbestos] remediation in late fall or early winter, with demolition to follow and construction to begin as soon as the site is clear."

That's nicer than we deserve.

Hope this gets started soon!

Wow, that screams L.A. But then again, so does the W brand. It's perfect. Love it.

I wish this building was at another location so it would stand out more in the skyline
