Alas, it won't quite be the "white nights" of Torino, site of the 2006 Winter Games, where the town stayed open 24 hours a day to party. But there are plans to shake Vancouver's "no-fun" image by at least extending closing time for an extra hour or two across the city and supplying extended public transit service for revellers to get home.

The alcohol and transit laws that are currently enforced in Vancouver are utterly absurd.
Alcohol should be permitted to flow freely 24 hours of the day - and transit should be running akin to serve the inebriated patrons.
Why, for one month, would the city attempt to shake its "no fun" image and then resort back to its former policies of bondage. Vancouver should capitalize on this opportunity to re-brand itself as a city with a progressive entertainment scene.
After all, what would a "Resort City" be without a great party scene?
