Well well... Isn't this intriguing!

Is it the planned BRT? An unannounced LRT extension? A hyperloop line to Palladium Drive??

A plan to improve transit in the old city of Ottawa by building a rapid transit line to Kanata.

I don't think it's LRT to Kanata... that would require a lot of additional money, and has been continually justifying not building LRT there for some time now.. most recently just a few days ago.

It's probably an announcement about the timelines/funding for the BRT link to Kanata. The Kanata North Transitway, as well as a new Transitway on the north side of the 417 to link Eagleson to Terry Fox, are both already in the plan.

Well, it doesn't say #OttBRT, so that's maybe a hint?

I have been waiting since 2006 for the 'promised' improved North-South LRT plan. I am still waiting ......................

So we don't get decent roads or decent transit. If you live south of Billings Bridge and Baseline, obviously our votes and tax money don't matter.

And especially if you live in any of the older urban neighbourhoods.

No LRT.

Deteriorating bus service.

Plans to deteriorate it even more, on purpose.

Well this is positive news for the City, but I for one would like to know what happens with Transitway currently under construction between Bayshore to Moodie. It would be a real shame to overbuild now just to close it for conversion afew years later. I'm asking the Mayor and a few of the reporters at the briefing to ask the question.

It would be nice if they could open phase one and see how that works before building phases 2 through 12. Phase 1 is almost certainly going to have teething problems that won't become apparent before it is actually used (and probably won't be really apparent until after the first winter). If design changes are needed or the system is not as winger-proof as advertised, it would be good to know where they stand.

Would rather have a Hurdman-Confederation-Baseline line over an extended line west towards Kanata.

Would rather have real transit for dense central neighbourhoods than to reward sprawling, low-density suburbs or their sprawl, and cause an even greater outflow of economic benefit from central residents to the outside-the-Brownbelt suburbs.

But that's magical thinking for sprawl-addicted Ottawa.
