Washington, DC | Gorgeous Dupont Circle and its vibrant surrounds

Fresh photos from this past week of Dupont Circle, Connecticut Avenue, and the surrounding neighborhood. This is my favorite part of DC and was my home for several years.

Let's start with the circle itself. You have the bad luck of catching the fountain on a day it was turned off for cleaning, but it's still beautiful.

Nekkid statuary alert

Aw screw it, here's an older photo with the fountain on. It's glorious.

I am not the only one who thinks so. This guy gave me permission to take this photo. You can see his paintings on instagram.

If you sit on the fountain's ledge and look outward, this is what you see:

Several streets meet at the circle, including 3 state avenues. The most prominent among these is Connecticut Avenue, one of the largest radial avenues leading diagonally in & out of downtown DC. It's also a major shopping & dining street.

Some of these are side streets.

Go Buffs!

Off Connecticut, into the quieter more local streets surrounding:

I think this is a 19th Century interpretation of a stegosaurus?

That's it for now! Thanks for looking! Enjoy your day!

Excellent photos - looks like my type of neighborhood!

My sister’s two recommendations for me based on her recent travels around North America are Washington and Quebec City. Both are full of history, beautiful architecture, are ‘human scale’, with nice public spaces.

Per usual, fantastic pics, Cirrus!

This plus IGAZ's Baltimore thread reinforce how little exposure I have to the whole DC-Baltimore region. Both are looking gorgeous.

Excellent photos! Although some of the newer neighborhoods such as the Capitol Riverfront and the Wharf get a lot of the attention, Dupont, Kalorama, and Woodley are such beautiful and vibrant parts of the city.

Very, very nice.

IMO Connecticut Ave. from Cleveland Park to Dupont is the most urbane, cosmopolitan stretch in the entire DC area. It's great.

And it includes the Kennedy-Warren, one of the most badass apartment buildings on the planet.
