Seeing some of those views, I understand now how some people become NIMBYs.

Wow.

He's probably saying if he had views like that, he wouldn't want them blocked either. Imagine if Metlife were suddenly built to its original planned height. Still would be amazing to me, but if it were next door, not so much.

OMG . . how not to comment on the NYguy May 9th photo-post . .
the sumptuous visual feast in that detailed closeup . .
of the MetLife Clock-tower crown-tip lantern & cupola . .
The lucky person with the apt. across from that wondrous spectacle, . .
once tip of the world's tallest, . . has one privileged ambiance . .

I just hope that owners of the stone clocktower . .
don't give in to this prism-tower's residents . .
& turn off their noble crown lights early . .
The world would miss those impressive lights . .
as we miss 40 Wall's illustrious illumination . . oh, . .
Trump cheaply never illuminated that perfect gem, did he?

I much appreciate 45 E.22nd's crisp crystalline KPF crown . .
more than its sibling's crown . . that similar glassy KPF tower downtown . .
the taller 111 Murray . . has a curvy teapot-spout crown.
. . ya notice that in most of the renderings of 111 . .
they don't show the goofier east and west profiles that much . .
Some of you guys have expressed liking 111 better for some reason . .
But we can certainly celebrate . .
this sharp, clean, coherent 777 ft. glass abstraction, . .
nevertheless . .

kznyc2k - Great shot of lower-Midtown & upper-Downtown
illuminated crowns at blue hour . . (just above) . . conEd in blue, a purple ESB,
MetLife clocktower in white light, Zeckendorf Towers in their usual amber . .
the Cooper Union Clock looking smart . .
Great multicolored group portrait composition . .
doen't matter that much, if 45 E 22nd's crown . .
gets emblazoned or not . . It looks sharp during the day . .
and it's not quite as skyline-defining as some others . .
but it would be nice . .

^ Thank you! I wish it came out sharper but I was in a rush and didn't have my tripod. Either way it was a pretty fantastic sight!

yeah, I adore Manhattan outings . .
in the dim light, that time of early evening . .
especially with illuminated skyline "spires" looming . .
with some bustle about . . be the view from a cafe, . .
a bar, . . the Esplanade . . or on a Village stroll . .
