Removed my angry rant. Sorry.
Out of character.

Sorry you cheaped out on your visit to Calgary, don't like mountains, interesting topography, fresh air with low humidity, and sunshine that sticks around here all winter.
I defend Ottawa against its detractors because I love it, but saying it is superior to Calgary is indefensible BS.
I think he is talking about the city itself, not the climate or nearby geography. On that count, I would tend to agree.

Calgary is a kick ass city. Loads of fun, loads to do, especially in the outdoors. Riding along the Bow on an electric scooter on a summer evening alongside downtown is every bit as epic and breathtaking as crossing the Alexandra Bridge on a summer evening in Ottawa. It doesn't come close to Ottawa's entertainment and cultural vibe in good weather/during festivals though, with the exception of Stampede. I find it to be everything McKellarDweller says beside that. I grew up in Calgary and go back frequently so I'm a pretty good judge of the difference I would hope.

having spent time in both cities.. Calgary for me before Ottawa... and not just based on skyline, but overall experience.
What I don't understand though is the troll like behaviour of what I can only assume are adults on this forum, who can't articulate their points of view without sounding like putulant brats.

I almost forgot to post these shots, taken as I was climbing up and out of YOW in early July.

Thanks for sharing. The towers on Fisher in the middle of the farm are funny and look so out of place.

Also interesting to see the density along Carling Ave in that second pic. From Dow's Lake, Westgate, Lincoln Fields... will be interesting to see it continue to grow and densify!

Harley, that’s an incredible photo! I have a drone that I never use but this makes me want to go try to take some beautiful sunset aerials like this. What drone do you use?

Crazy nice shots. Ottawa's skyline might not have much height, but the density is impressive. Clusters of towers all over the central city. I don't think any other city in Canada outside Toronto and Vancouver have anything quite like it.

Pretty cool seeing the western skyline grow in recent years. Can't wait to see what goes up next.

I seem to remember all sorts of controversy when the now dwarfed SoHo Parkway was proposed.

I always feel the Flora Footbridge is in the wrong location.
Should have been south of 5th Ave Clegg St, closer to Lansdowne.
And those ramps on Colonel By Dr not the best.

Could have landed right on the top of the stair, where Echo meets Echo (Known as Echo Sunset point on Google Maps) with zero ramps on that side, and then a fancy ramp into Lansdowne Park directly.
