Sound table building appears to be ruined (massive structural integrity issues not displayed in this angle). Someone took a photo... which also shows Waldo O4W under construction.

Looking forward

I have to say...hopefully this vaccine is as effective at putting Covid behind us as it would appear it will. If so, it feels like Atlanta is set to explode. Development continues to mostly roar through the pandemic and if it's not an issue anymore, you'd have to think it's full speed ahead if we get back to "normal" life next year.

What is being built next to sound table anyway? Like what are they doing on that tiny lot? Was there a new building proposed that I missed? Sucks that the Sound table building might have to be demolished. Atlanta can't really afford to lose these types of buildings.

More pics from the Sound Table building from Atlanta Fire Rescue's Twitter. The building pretty much cracked in half when the adjacent construction damaged the foundation.

Yup that building looks done for...sigh and it's just going to turn into a grassy or parking lot forever since we don't really get infill buildings that small these days so it'll be yet another break in the urban streetwall. ATL can't catch a break.

To add insult to injury, it appears that the construction on that corner was not yet permitted. A stop work notice was filed today and states "started work before permit issued." I hope they face a big fat lawsuit.

This looks like negligence. That picture shows the dirt dug from under the brick footings. There was no bracing put into place to stabilize that wall. If I had a construction crew digging from under my foundation, I would want to know what plan they had in place to preserve my building. What were they thinking?

Yeeeesh.

I’ve also been wondering if this was caused by the adjacent construction and/or perhaps shockwaves from the Waldo development (though at least doesn’t appear they were blasting). Either way, the combo with a foundation like that will easily ruin an old brick building. Such negligence.

Lawsuit incoming. Sound table probably needs to sue both the development company AND the construction company. They're going to have lost revenue for this. I hope they get a lot of money too.

I imagine the pile driving at the adjacent hotel development caused the vibrations that damaged the structure of the Sound Table building.

A new business was slated to open soon. I believe two Sound Table patrons purchased it and changed the name but were going to keep the vibe the same.

I drove by that today. It looks like long term fencing. It is coated black with a bottom rail. This looks like it is meant to be there a while.

I think this signals that the Cousins project is shelved for now.
