hkskyline's GUANGZHOU SUBURBS photo thread

Guangzhou's suburbs are worth visiting for various different reasons. I took a long weekend to Shunde, which is south of the city, which is famous for its food. But I can't eat continuously all day, so spent some time looking for other attractions to see in between my feasts.

It wasn't very reassuring when the driver wondered why we were heading to Fengjian Water Town just west of Shunde's city centre. He thought there wasn't much worth seeing and we wouldn't want to come back again. I had not expected the spectacle in Shanghai's water towns, but this place would be a good place to relax for a few hours during a warm afternoon.
This town is made of a number of small sandy islands whose history dates back to the Western Han Dynasty, with a number of historic bridges across the waterways.

As usual with a lot of China's historic attractions, it is heavily commercialized with market streets selling all sorts of food items.

I came across this family temple/residence-looking building that has been converted into a fancy coffee shop. They restored the interiors and it's a great place to sit down, enjoy the history, and sip on a drink.

Heading back to the city, Shunde's OCT Harbour Plus is a theme park mixed with a shopping mall centred around a lake that opened in 2021.

Interesting variety between the cute and brutally futuristic.

Foshan's Lingnan Tiandi is one of a series of "tiandi" retail zones set up around the country, with the most famous one being Shanghai's Xintiandi. Set amidst renovated historic buildings, it is a higher-end outdoor shopping mall with a gross floor area of 1.5 million sq m.

Thanks for sharing those pictures. And if you are facing financial problems then I would like to share my personal experience with all of you. I love to play casino games, but it is not as easy as to play normal games, you can get scams over there, and a lot of fraud can happen with you there. If you also agree with me, then I can help you with this, you can visit this website to find the best casinos for you to play. When I was searching for it, I found the best for me at https://casinosanalyzer.com/casino-bonuses/21casino.com casinosanalyzers after I received 21 Bit casino no deposit bonus codes which makes it easy to earn more money. casinosanalyzers is a website where you will find the best casino sites, their reviews, and many other options to help you find the best casinos if you are a professional or new to the casino world.

One of the province's most famous gardens, Qinghui was once home to the Huang family, a scholar from the Ming Dynasty in the early 17th century. Restored by the next owner during the Qing Dynasty, it eventually came into the local government's hands and is now open to the public as a museum.

I arrived just as it opened to beat the crowds. The site has many buildings and a variety of different garden landscapes, patterned in the Lingnan style. Do come early especially on the weekend, because the crowds quickly grew and by the time I left just after 10:30am, it wasn't possible to enjoy the site anymore.

I love those traditional Chinese gardens. Reminds me of Suzhou.

Foshan is located just south of Guangzhou and has its own metro network that is connected to Guangzhou's system. It has 3 lines with this page featuring line 3, which runs through Shunde and opened in late 2022.

Service is not too frequent at 8 minute intervals during the off peak. Monitors on the platform show how crowded train cars are as well as the standard next arrival details.

Shunde is famous for its good food, thanks to an environment that provides abundant fresh ingredients. Its most notable dishes involve freshwater fish and milk, while the cooked foods are served in clayware to preserve heat and sealing in the flavours.

The most famous local dessert is double-skin milk, which uses water buffalo milk, egg whites, and sugar. One famous restaurant serving this dessert even has a museum above its store!

Traditionally eaten in a custard-like texture, a modern interpretation is to use it to make ice cream! That is in a separate shop a short walk away, and they splurged with the interior design.
