I can only see 1/3 of the pictures in that post. I usually cant see Spyguy's pictures either, but only when I'm at work (Chrome, IE, Firefox...) but I can always see them when I'm at home. Odd......

I'm glad you brought that up! I can usually see one or two pictures from Spyguy at most but never all. In this case I can't see that "green wall" that everyone is referring to. I can't see it from my desktop using Chrome but I can from my Android phone

Probably caused by the url prefixes in his photos. Technically they should work on all devices and browsers though.

Engligh ivy along with boston ivy, and Virginia creeper can handle full shade and a good deal of abuse... however none of these will perform how shown in that rendering.. they need their roots in soil at grade to survive our harsh winters. What is shown in the rendering would have to be a green wall system which have a horrible track record in the Midwest, even in accommodating locations.

P.s. if you ever want anything else growing in your beds besides the English ivy, throw some cardboard over the area in the middle of summer, let it sit for a month. Pick up the cardboard and dig out area atleast 6". Plant something that will outcompete like liriopie or hosta. Herbicides will not work.

I work for Little Helpers (cleaning company that cleans homes, business, etc) and we cleaned Monks the day before they reopened about a week and a half ago. Not sure I get the appeal of that place.

Great beer list in a convenient downtown location.

It's relatively cheap, it's cozy, and it's traditional.

Could also be that whatever he uses for hosting is being blocked by his office network.

That too. Though there are some buildings in areas like TriBeCa which look like they belong more in Brooklyn than the stereotypical vision of Manhattan

2950 N Sheridan got a new construction permit yesterday (says "Full review" on it). That makes 3 high rises in Chicago that have gotten their construction permits in the last two days (Northwestern medical bldg in Streeterville and Viceroy Hotel in Gold Coast are the other two).

Yeah I think if any part of Chicago stands to develop into something resembling Tribeca or the Meatpacking District, it's going to be Fulton Market and the West Loop. I don't hate it at all

Completely. If it can keep doing what it's doing in a way and filling in the empty lots that still exist or awkwardness, it's going to become way more popular than it is now (eve though it's semi popular now). It just needs to not sell out after that.

Getting rid of anything with a shred of uniqueness and being replaced by typical irish/sports bars. For example.

I hope they sell out ASAP. Then all the artsy types and edgy restaurants can go gentrify some other sick industrial district of Chicago like the Central Manufacturing District in McKinnley Park or Kinzie industrial corridor in Garfield Park.

That's a good point, and I agree with the overal idea but at the same time what I mean is that I hope places like Sawada Coffee don't up and go somewhere else and are replaced by chains and irish pubs.
