Some of the new interesting facts I learned from the trip:
The Chicago River flow was reversed to allow fresh water from the lake come to the River, and stop polluted and sewer water go to Lake Michigan.
The two empty floors at the St Regis Tower were left open to allow for wind to flow and reduce wind forces in the building. This is around $20 million of real estate empty floors.
150 N Riverside tower has cantilevered floors on both sides of the core. This is due to the zoning setback on the river side, and the underground rail tracks on the other side. They also use water filled vaults at the top of the building to reduce wind effects.
