Fake curves rarely look good. My guess is this design will go through several changes before anything is built. With real curved glass, this could be very shape looking. IMO, the residential tower would look better balanced if it were another 5 or more stories.

Maybe Philly is entering a period where developers believe that some attention to the buildings design pays off on the tail end, when it comes to sell or rent space in the building. About time!

I’m fine with a hotel and apartment combo. Probably makes the most sense in this location and would definitely give us a building over 400 feet.

They should make floors 2-6 lab/life science space. Floor plates are certainly wide enough.

Then, floors 8-14 can be a hotel and floors 15-34 residential apartments.

Yea. The quote states the timeline is unknown, which means this design will likely change before movement. I don't think the final product will be ugly, but likely a tall blue box.

Yes, if they eliminate office, this tower will shrink. Office is what drives serious height. I hope it remains above 400 feet. Frankly, as long as it gets built in or close to its current design, I'll be happy. Keep the curves damnit!

This article annoyed me. It says construction is anticipated but that implies an update. Unless I missed something, this project is still in limbo with no recent updates.

Standard issue for them. "Construction Anticipated" = no update

This one looks amazing, is it really no longer a go? What on earth happened? The location is perfect for a project like this.

So sad if it gets VE'd

Where does it say they'd remove the office component? I'm unable to access the article.

The timing of the second and final phase and what it might look like it is unknown at this point, said Gianni Parente, investment officer at EQT Exeter. Before Covid, a 400,000-square-foot office project was considered but that’s not expected to be part of the project. The second phase will have a residential component, maybe with larger units, and potentially another use such as a hotel but that is being worked out. “We’re trying to get the best mix of uses,” Parente said.

It's so annoying. They will frequently have headlines that say "Permits have been filed for..." implying it's a new development even though said permits were filed like a year ago. There's no sense of temporality with that site.

I've recommended banning them as sources before. I agree that they provide some nice photo updates, but I hate giving them clicks (and will often do everything I can to avoid doing so) because of these clickbaity headlines.

If a thread hasn't been updated in almost a year, it usually means there is nothing new to report.

Sorry to bump this thread with no immediate news. But I wanted to point out how UNBELIEVABLE it would be for the Parkway if the Family Court redevelopment project was completed similar to the recent renderings AND Cathedral Square II was built. (And then hope the Parkway project results in a pedestrian friendly outcome for Logan Square!) It would be amazing.

Oh man, I know.... if anything close to this gets built, plus the Old Family Court building gets revamped into a luxury hotel and 1900 Callowhill parking lot gets redeveloped like National/Frontier are proposing AND if the I-76 cap happens... my god, watch out, Logan Square might become my new favorite neighborhood in the city.

Not happening anytime soon per a comment from EQT Exeter Regional Investment Officer..

Last year, EQT Exeter opened One Cathedral Square, a $110 million, 23-story apartment building at 1701 Race St. in Center City. Plans for Two Cathedral Square, a nearby mixed-use office and residential tower, and Three Cathedral Square have been proposed, but progress on both has stalled, Parente said.

Hang on, have they ever stated that there would be a third tower in the complex?
