I agree Aura is sub par but in my opinion Trump is hardly crap. It's more of an eclectic mix of good and crap design/materials that manages to look okay.

Trump's finer detailing is among the worst in the city. It passes with quality materials and not standing out despite being the 3rd tallest.

I don't consider it as 3rd tallest because having a long antenna on the top is like having a long Mohawk on the head of a person whose height is 5'8 but with the Mohawk his height is 6'.

If you ignore that spire, and antenna's etc, it's the third tallest building based on roof height behind FCP and ScotiaPlaza. That's not counting the CN Tower, which is classed as a tower, not a building. (Not necessarily something I agree with, but that's a whole other thread that's been discussed countless times on here.)

If it makes it's mark on the skyline then it should be counted for height. That's my opinion.

As reported here by UrbanToronto, ground breaking has occurred at 88 Scott. This thing is under construction!

I've updated the first page of the thread. For the first time ever, there are 10 towers that are over 200 metres under construction in Canada.

WOOOT! That is pretty dang awesome to hear! I'm glad that Calgary can be part of the action, hopefully even more soon!

First time ever 10 buildings U/C over 200 meters.

3 or 4 more waiting in the wings for those that are about to finish up too!

BTW: Steel on site to top off Aura.

Calgary will get that number 2 spot when Aura comes off the list.

Maybe another 2 or 3 months?

Unless 156 Front starts before One Bloor wraps up.

That only got proposed a few months ago, doubt construction starts within the next two years.

It's an office building. All it takes is municipal approval and a find an anchor tenant. In terms of timing, both could be secured within two years.

Yeah, at least 2 to 3 years before One Bloor wraps up.

Odds One Yonge has the best chance of starting before it wraps up. #2 is likely the best Brookfield Place will take, so long as it doesn't beat One Bloor to topout. One Yonge, empty parking lot, and 4 towers taller than 248 meters. Developer trying to force the city for approval through OMB. Once, they see an opening the marketing will begin in earnest. Southcore sells lightening fast.

^I like your enthusiasm. I wonder if, assuming One Yonge gets the green light, all 6 or 7 massive towers will be constructed at the same time. That would be simultaneously awesome and a logistical nightmare.

Will Brookfield Place be steel construction? If so, could it finish before One Bloor does?

No, no, no.

I mean 1 of the 4 will likely move forward.

Not all at the same time.
