A new name and identity will be helpful to "the son [she] never knew [she] had." It will allow him to establish his own restaurant without being beholden to complainers who object when things change, even if they change for the better or in a way that is just different without being worse.

Sounds like it'll be Rene Andrade. He'd already done it before with her Gran Reserva (now Bacanora), I think it makes sense. It'll be a bigger spot and hopefully make his stuff more accessible too.

Isn't he busy with Bacanora and Huarachi's? If he make can make three places work, good for him.

Ran into the owner once at the Acai place next door - she is a bit of a nutjob, I could just feel it in my bones. I'm not surprised, although the food was good, the space was underwhelming for all the hype. Just my opinion.

One of the best Chefs to do it. The outpour of love from other Chefs in the Valley is a testament to the role she played in making the Phoenix restaurant scene what it is today.

A shame she was never able to get over the hump and win a James Beard award. Her cochinita pibil will be missed…

So drove by today it looks like Cornish has finally updated its exteriors and covered the windows of the old retail pads with nice Guinness toucans. Big improvement not seeing into their prep area and storage area.

But the doors of the old subway were opened and there was clearly work going on in there.

I wonder if Cornish is expanding (they have a history of this right back to their original location) Or if they are prepping that corner for a new tenant?

I think It would be cool if they could somehow make the Entrance the corner.

I believe they are expanding into the old Subway space. As with their initial renovation and move-in, it's proceeding at a glacial pace, but I'm glad it's happening.

Not that I’m particularly sad to see Applebees go, but henri seems like a weird choice when the main restaurant is only 15 mins down camelback

Here's an article about the new Henry location for those wanting to re-familiarize themselves. Will be a nice addition to the area.

First, that's a long 15 mins so it's really different neighbhorhoods that don't hang out together much- Arcadia and North Central people. So I don't see it as weird.

The Henry will be a nice addition, although I do feel bad for all the lower and middle class folks who are losing their ability to eat out as food becomes so expensive. Not that I don't want Henry or that I liked Applebees- I don't!

Has any one on here tried Seven at Caesars Scottsdale yet? Kind of curious what it's like.

The resort has made the news for this

I tried Full Speed on 5th St & Roosevelt on Sunday evening.

I had high expectations because I'm a fan of LMB. I was not disappointed.

First, it's a perfect addition to Roosevelt because it'll be be great for lunch, people grabbing a quick bite, and we FINALLY have a window restaurant for people on the go. Every real downtown has several of these and we need more. I appreciate how fast their service was. None of the hipster service, 'you're lucky we're doing this at all' vibe.

I brought my whole fam so I got to try everything. It was all great but I had special love for the pulled pork sandwich and the ribs, which were perfect. I love their menu concept, which makes it easy to try a few things without ordering $80 worth of BBQ. It was actually pretty cheap for the value. Next time I will get hot chicken because the "southern" was pretty basic [though fresh!] but that was good for the kids.

I love that it has a takeout window without a drive-thru. I just wish they had iced tea. That seems a strange omission from the beverage menu. Otherwise, my experiences have been favorable.

Made a point to get full speed based on the positive recommendations and you all were not wrong. The food was great, especially the chicken and the beans.

Another recommendation for Full Speed. Food was amazing!

I remember seeing a post not too long ago about this but think it got moved/deleted? Anyways, I saw demo work the other day on the shuttered gas station (SEC) across from the Phoenix Country Club. It was supposed to be some fancy drive-thru restaurant but someone said it's now going to be an Original Chop Shop?

I thought it was going to be Birdcall (which is average) I would love if it was a Chop Shop

There's a Chop Shop going in on the southwest corner of Osborn and 7th Street. I think the site you are referring to is going to be something else.
