I love all animals, but I'm definitely a dog person - specifically Asian, smush-faced toy breeds (Pugs, Pekingese, Shih-Tzus, Japanese Chins); I just love their temperament. They were never bred to fetch their humans' meal, much less their own - they're perfectly content to be mellow palace puppies and eat, sleep and provide companionship. They don't need to bounce off the walls to play, they don't need a half-mile walk to do their business, and that's fine by me. If it were socially acceptable, I would tote my two pugs with me everywhere but that's not reality.
That said, yes - I *am* one of those people who perks up whenever anyone asks "do you have pets?" and proudly pulls out the multitude of photos

Emma, out in the sun where's she's happiest - seriously, I think she would have one of those old-school foil reflectors if she could:
Chloe is usually the one to wake me up to let them outside in the morning - sometimes her timing is less than ideal (i.e. 5:15am vs. the usual 7:00am)
but how can I possibly be angry with this
