I'm confused. I thought this development backed onto the lane not that it ran through it

The lane I photographed is the first lane south of Lougheed:

Any updates on the excavation? Apparently 2/3 of the units have sold in the first phase (Stratus - 45 storeys).

Yeah, sorry, I should have probably clarified that I hadn't been by the site in a while when I posted on Oct 15 The depth caught me by surprise when I remembered to look when I passed by on Skytrain on the 19th

What are the sale numbers for this project? I'm surprised this isn't sold out already with Station Sq selling out in a day. Solo is close to the sky train too.

The pent up demand for Metrotown seems to be insatiable due to lack of supply, whereas Brentwood has had 100s if not a few thousand units built in the last decade.

I think Brentwood area can end up as Metrotown 2 once Solo and the mall redevelopment completes.

They have dug to the P2 level

They reached the P2 of 4 underground levels. Here's a couple of pictures i took on site from my phone:

this is from www.solodistrict.com/newsletter (2012/11/16)

Letter from Jim Bosa:

Congratulations on joining the SOLO District Community!

It has only been three months since the sales of the first phase of SOLO District commenced – it has been a time of hard work and we have received a very encouraging response from the market for SOLO District! The entire Solo District team is very excited.

Seven years ago, we at Appia Development acquired the 6.5 acres of land for SOLO District with the vision of a master-planned community that will redefine urban living for the Lower Mainland. The location of the project presented the perfect opportunity, complementing the 20+ years of history of Bosa’s development in North Burnaby.

At Appia Development, we create and build vibrant and exciting communities, with homes of superior quality. And SOLO District is no exception – offering new features that no other project in Burnaby does, such as the efficient and environmentally conscious geothermal heat exchange system, which significantly reduces energy costs for home owners. SOLO District is the most livable community in Burnaby and will set a new standard for urban living. SOLO District buyers have done extensive market research before making their decision on SOLO, recognizing the true value. Many of our buyers have introduced family and friends to this growing community.

Construction of Stratus, the first phase of SOLO District, is underway. Excavation commenced mid-August and is ongoing. We have currently reached the second of four levels of the underground parkade, and we anticipate that concrete pouring will begin by the end of 2012. Once again, we watch the transition from vision to reality as this new community takes shape.

We invite you, your friends and family to visit us at the SOLO District Presentation Centre, or at www.solodistrict.com to learn more about the unique features of your new home at SOLO District.

Warm Regards,

Jim Bosa
President
Appia Development

When you upload them in imgur, on the top right there is an "edit image" link where you can resize them.

Thanks for the photos of the construction progress. Between Solo District and the redevelopment of Brentwood Town Centre, the intersection of Lougheed Hwy and Willingdon will be unrecognizable by decade's end.

The website has some new renders and a fancy fly-through video, depicting Whole Foods as the anchor retailer:

Now just imagine some 60 to 70-storey towers kitty-corner to that!

By the way, does anyone know which Solo tower is getting built first?

I drove through that intersection for the first time in a while yesterday and was thinking the same thing. There is such a clean slate to work with at Brentwood, it should end up as a much more complete neighborhood compared to Metrotown. Much nicer looking Skytrain station in a more strategic location.

I think by decades end, Brentwood will be preferred over Metrotown.

45-storey tower on the north west corner of the site - called Stratus.

The phasing and tower names can be found here: http://solodistrict.com/amenities.html

Looking at their floorplans, you can go floor by floor through the building and it seems this one will truly be 45 floors! Residences start on floor 2 and they go up till floor 45, INCLUDING floors 4, 13, and all other "unlucky" numbers.
