Nice photos. Good precis of London. I am a relatively new Londoner (originally from Montreal), currently a Prof at the University of Western Ontario.

I visited there several years back. We had a reuniion in Detroit & originally planned on going to toronto.. but London was closer. After a couple of days there, I really liked the feel of the city. Nice place. Nice photo set.

"They don't accept credit at their Tim Horton's out by that mall."

They don't accept credit or debit at any Tim's I've ever been to (all in southern ontario). Cash only. It makes sense when you see a busy Tim's at crunch time.

"I think Eric Lindros might hail from London, yes?"

Yeah, a lot of hockey players are from London. I know Joe Thornton is also from here.

Nice to see some other people with UWO connections on here (I'm an undergrad student right now).

At the Tim Horton's here in Columbus, all I do is swipe and I go. It's actually faster than just giving them hard cash.

For those of you who weren't familiar with London, I'm glad I could introduce you to Canada's 10th largest city!

I found these old pictures from when I lived in London. I have great memories from London. Most of these are views from my balconey (I miss that view!)

The Talbot Block before the John Labatt Centre was built. In the background is a fire that destroyed Pro Hardware.

The JLC under construction. I watched it being built and then moved just before it opened. I still haven't been inside.

Balloonfest in Harris Park

A rainbow

the rainbow continued out my rear balconey, you can also see the Labatt Brewery

The CN Tower was 10 or 12 stories. Now you see it...

...now you don't

The old Covent Garden Market, demolished and replaced by a new building

Another view from my balconey, to the left is Labatt Park (world's oldest baseball stadium) and to the right is the Art Gallery

Great photos of London. I grew up in Detroit and but moved south in the early 70's. I've been back there since then and went to Toronto. I remember passing London and didn't realize it was as big as it is.

I'll be in Detroit again this summer and will make sure to visit London on my journey to Toronto.

Thanks for sharing the photos.

The Talbot Block wasn't just the Inn on the NE corner (centre of photo), the block once featured a long 19th C. streetscape. The entire block was demolished (except the Talbot Inn) to make way for a shopping centre that was never built. There was a huge fight to save it but all that was left was the Talbot Inn. For many years it was a parking lot. The Talbot Inn was orignally supposed to be part of the John Labatt Centre, but it too was demolished, and then replicated on the corner of the JLC.
