I check this occasionally and noticed there has been quite a bit of recent activity. Does anyone have any knowledge about this project?

This is just a guess, but the permit WAS originally submitted for review at the end of 2019, during the period in which projects could be submitted under the 2014 or the 2019 building code. If it was submitted under the 2014 code, they need to get it to "Approved to Issue" status by October 1st, or the permit will expire. There's a lot of other projects in the city that are in the same situation.

This is the 23-story Hyatt that was planned prior to the pandemic and appealed by neighbors - who lost.

There seems to be a lot of permit activity going on for this lately. I'm not sure if this means possible construction or not

Definitely looks like they want to keep their permit from expiring. Whether or not that means construction is imminent is anyone's guess.

Folks, don't you think that the vigorous opposition effort and zoning appeals by the Pearl District association might have slowed down this project?

Folks, don't you think the effect of the pandemic on all aspects of our economy (including the tourist economy that supports the Hotel part of this project) might have slowed down this project?

We should be surprised that it is moving forward at all!

To be fair it was the Pearl Neighbors for Integrity in Design, not the PDNA. I believe that the leader of PNID may have since moved away from the neighborhood and possibly Portland.

My apologies to the PDNA.

Sorry to bump the thread, but has anyone heard any updates on this project? Foundations permit was approved in March and the building permit application was submitted back in Sept, but nothing since. Would be a shame, after all the back and forth in the design approval process, if this were dead.

Dude it doesn’t take years and years for a simple project to start. There’s projects that have literally lapped this thing.. it’s pretty obvious
