There has been a lot of (selective) tree cutting going on recently in that triangular bit of land on the SW corner to the Highway 15/2 interchange. I noticed this myself a few weeks ago, but recently (today) there is now some chatter being generated about this over at
Retail Talk & Share.
Apparently, according to some people, the land now belongs to MID and may be being prepared for development. The SNB site however is currently unavailable, therefore I can not confirm a recent sale of this land.
Nevertheless, This parcel of land would offer extremely high visibility from two major divided highways, has railway access, and is across the street from the Romeo LeBlanc International Airport. It would be a no brainer to see this as a prime site for commercial development. We will have to keep an eye on this one.
A couple of years ago, I did a fanciful diagram of a commercial subdivision here, which I posted on SSP. I will repost it below.
The green line is the existing rail spur. My diagram includes a new interchange at the exit to the airport, which would eliminate the at grade railway crossing over highway 15. This is all conjecture, but the diagram shows the possibilities that could exist for this land.
