As a skyscraper admirer, only one thought comes to mind when i see i picture of the Twin Towers... Yuck.
I dont care what they symbolised or how big they were. When i see the Twins i just see two concrete blocks in the middle of the skyline.
I am a personal supporter of the New World Trade Center, which will be far nicer and even bigger again.
One thing that bothers me here, why do some of you say the New WTC wont offer the same views?? 1 WTC is the same height as the twins...

Well, even though the Twins were eyesores, they were iconic. The new 1 WTC will be blocked by the new 2 WTC somewhat in getting the breathtaking views of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Ugh! Another Ostrich has learned to use a computer.

I am surprised how many of you are on these threads. So gripped by denial that they think if 'I don't see it, it didn't happen.' Or they say the well-worn statement... "I have very bad memories of that day and I don't need reminding."

I say... We ALL have bad memories of that day and YES YOU DO

Those unwilling to face the truth about history, or unwilling to deal with it are doomed to repeat its tragic mistakes.

The Twin Towers met a tragic end. It is part of their history. To have a thread dedicated to the Twins but to ignore how they met their demise is "Revisionist History". That kind of thinking has schools not teaching about the Holocaust because of the disturbing implications and leads to Stalinist re-writing of history to better suit the people in charge.

America is better than that. Grow up, face your demons and gain strength from the lessons.

^Pretty much this.
If you don't want to watch the video for whatever reason, then don't. But don't try to dictate what others can offer up for view or discussion.

Oddly enough, I've had a similar experience, but from another viewpoint. You see, I'm an artist and sometimes writer, and the WTC towers always had a special place in my heart, well before 9/11. Since I was a kid, in fact. I've gotten grief from offended people for wanting to use the WTC towers in creative endeavors, because of what happened to them in the end. In some people's minds, speaking fondly of the towers is disrespectful of the people who died, as if respect is some sort of zero-sum game where honoring one takes away from the other.
To some people, depicting the towers in artwork is disrespectful because of what happened to them- that depicting them in any way is an affront to those who died, even if it's done as tribute, as opposed to mockery. (I've seen some VERY disrespectful art making fun of 9/11 unfortunately).
To some people, the wretched fate the towers met with cancels out everything else- the inspiration that they were to so many for so many years counts for nothing, and cannot be spoken of, and that inspiration is not allowed to exist any more, out of some notion of "proper respect".

It's still amazing even after so long people still have pictures of the buildings.

Undoubtedly this has been said many times in the last 10 years but the cowards responsible for doing this cannot be considered "humans". Thankfully the one ultimately responsible for all this finally got what he deserved earlier this year.

Thanks indeed! Looking at the pics, you can see other buildings of the time period under construction- notably 55 Water street Kinda cool, actually.

You're at 55 Water street right now? Cool! You might want to do a search for my thread on that building, where I even posted some 55 Water fan art. Soon, I have to update it with the pics I took when I was in NYC.

BTW, 55 Water is related to the WTC Towers by way of the architectural firm Emery Roth and Sons. Seriously. Roth did 55 Water all by themselves, and worked with Minoru Yamasaki on the WTC towers.

It would be nice if they built a shorter replica of the towers somewhere in Manhattan. The people who never been in the old ones could experience a similar encounter. Doesn't have to be as tall as the Twins, but at least a supertall. If that isn't possible, please tell me,so I could forget mentioning it.

Smile Twin Towers of the World Trade Center drawing

Hey i am Roman Reyna, i am 16 years old and i love to draw the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. I never got a chance to see them in person, so drawing them brings me closer to them. I still remember 9/11 as if it happened yesterday. i cant believe its now gonna be 10 years since the attacks. God bless all the lost souls. and i hope one day ill have a chance to see the twins in person. Here are a few pictures of my drawings.

this drawing took me a bout a year to finish, even with all the headaches i had a lot of fun working on it(:

heres a much closer look at the drawing with American international building

and heres another close up with the Woolworth building

and here i am holding my new york city drawing.
