I like this plan, and, almost certainly the five cent piece will disappear about the same time the five dollar coin is instituted.

Beavers have buck teeth. The national mascot should be called "Bucky the Beaver"

This would make it easy to simply call the new coin the Bucky Buck.

Problem solved!!!

Would the Americans have to change the size of their dime first? Canadian coin shapes and sizes (though not necessarily weights) were paired with US coins for a long time - penny, nickel, dime and quarter. They still are for the last three though we've struck out a bit on our own with the Loonie and the Twoonie.

They will never change the size of the dime.

Actually the US Sacageweya one dollar coin is I think identical in size, weight and colour as the Canadian loonie.

Back in the day, you could get away with using Canadian quarters in American drink machines. Now they have new fangled technology that screens them out.

I remember driving to New York about 20 years ago and trying to slip in a couple of Canadian quarters at a toll booth. The surly booth man told me 'this is not money'.

If we discontinue the nickel, can we ban Nickelback at the same time?

Sad but not unexpected given the secrecy. Is any job worth the constant prying they're subjected to.

Catherine, Princess of Wales, Has Cancer
The princess described the news as a “huge shock” and asked for “time, space and privacy” in a prerecorded video broadcast on the BBC on Friday evening.

Catherine, Princess of Wales, has been diagnosed with cancer and has begun chemotherapy, she announced in a video message on Friday, in which she described the past two months as “incredibly tough for our entire family.”

Her diagnosis follows that of King Charles III, who announced his own cancer diagnosis and treatment in early February. It comes after a period of intense uncertainty about the health of Catherine, who underwent abdominal surgery in January and largely disappeared from public view as she tried to recuperate....

Just be upfront and honest with the public.

Why someone in that position of public interest (but not real power) would be instructed to hide this, and then stay hidden away from public view only to reappear by posting altered photographs is honestly baffling to me.

Exactly this 100%.

Feel bad for her. The way it was handled couldn't have been worse though.

True it was badly handled but you’re talking about a mother who is trying to shield three young children from the worst of it and a father who literally saw his mother hounded to death by those seeking to invade her privacy. Bad choices but understandable.

This looks like colon or rectal cancer, with the first operation being a colectomy with an ileostomy. She's probably doing chemo now to help reduce the tumor size. Terrible, but unfortunately not uncommon to get this in your early forties. Unfortunately, the prognosis is grim.

The retracted controversial photo was probably edited to hide her wig &/or ileostomy bag.

She said in her video that she took her time cause she wanted to talk about it with her children first and give them time to deal with what is going on before going public.

The cancer was only discovered during her abdominal surgery and there was no idea about it before she went in for surgery.

Hopefully its caught in time and she can beat it.
