I remember going to Branson ten years ago with family and staying at a cabin about 30 minutes outside of town. I loved the Ozarks, and yes Branson is tacky, but the lake and mountains around there are beautiful in the summer.

Ugh...that Obama shirt was offensive, I hate to see such disrespect to our president. However, I don't think stores like that should sum up a thread like this. You might be able to find a store like that in Panama City Beach or at other places in the south.

I can confirm that, actually. No pictures unfortunately, but it looks a hell of a lot like that store in Branson. Granted this was before Obama became president.

Stopped for gas once in Pensacola and I went inside and saw what had to be the largest display of trucker hats for sale with the usual witty (in that Larry the Cable Guy sense) sayings on the front. I bet it's full of anti-Obama gems now.

At first I thought it looked like it was no more than a cousin of Niagra Falls or Wisconsin Dells until I came to the photos of the proudly waving confederate flags.

Yeah I saw virulent anti-Obama shirts for sale in several Oregon coast towns this summer. Come to think of it, most of those towns look a lot like these photos, only with hideous 70 and 80's condos climbing up the hills.

Those are some nasty looking sidewalks. I get the feeling that sidewalk repair/planning is at the bottom of the Branson list of public priorities.

Not to mentioned that they're framed by the good ol' Stars-N-Bars. Southern Heritage store indeed.

photolitherland, did you drive from Branson back to Russellville? If so that is a beautiful drive right over the Boston Mtns. There are some po-dunk towns in the region but there's also a lot of unspoiled natural beauty in the Ozarks. I love going hiking and whitewater rafting over there in the summer.

Wow - depressing American street sprawl.

Why bother going to Memphis or Nashville when you can eat at a Cracker Barrel in Branson?

seriously, this whole redneck bashing is tired and old.

and i love how all these big city liberals preach tolerance and open-mindedness all day, but when it comes to non-sophistcated, conservative american, it's all mockery and ridicule...

this john-stewart-style elitism is SO boring.

and just wondering... how all the obama hatin' any different from the RELENTLESS disrespect for bush???

Because these shirts and bumper stickers are making downright dangerous accusations and connections between Obama and communism, terrorism, etc, plus the usual "Obama's a dumbass" shirts, which is all that Bush had to contend with.

Honest question, what do you know about rednecks? I'm not talking about hard working blue collar folks who work with their hands for a living who sometimes think they are rednecks, or joke about being rednecks. I wear steel toe boots for a living and have the toes to prove it, believe me I know the difference.

I've never had a vegan, drunk liberal "weenie" essentially donkey punch me in a bar...just sayin'

I love how you're rushing to the defense of a generally staunchly homophobic, racist, and close-minded people. I'll take John Steward any day.
