Rgarri4, are you even able to keep up with the Fulton Market boom? I’d imagine it’s a full time job. I’ve never seen anything like it before. Indeed it is a great time to be alive. I can’t even imagine what this is gonna look like for the residential boom once all these new office towers get built. Holy sheesh.

Haha yes it's been difficult to keep up, but exciting and fun. This is the latest flythrough I did of Fulton Market which is pretty current as of last month.

The transformation happening west of the Kennedy is amazing. And some really solid designs to boot.

Flying up now. They have a small army of people working on site. Still disappointed that they chose to not preserve the facade of the handsome brick building to the south.

Has there been any permits issued for the IMD Gateway highrise portions? I see they have started Potholing the Southern section of the site where the Hotel and Residential tower will go. The retail appears close to delivery and Starbucks signage has appeared on the hard corner space facing Damen and Ogden...

Basically the site prep appears to have started for the two towers shown here:

I live nearby and was wondering what was going on here. The retail portion has taken so long to complete. Aside from Starbucks, there will be a Jimmy John.

What is going on in Chicago? I had no clue the scale of the current boom was this widespread. I'd love some up-to-date aerial photos showing the emergence of a transforming near west side.

Perhaps a bit boring, but definitely going to help bring some life to a rather lame part of the IMD

The renderings are lame because they aren't very good. The finished product of the low-rise retail has been pretty decent, a tower with similar quality will be like one of the Logan TOD designs.

It's actually a extremely busy and hustling during the day. I have no idea why there isn't more retail there aside from bad city planning. There are three residential towers (twin towers at Taylor and Ashland and one at Gateway) planned for the district and four hotels (three in CCH, one at Gateway). If all that gets built, it will haven a pretty dense 24 hour population as well. Really the area just needs to be developed more humanely into an urban neighborhood. It's got historic stock all around it, good transit access, between the West Loop and Pilsen, and a huge daytime population.

Yes, it is, and I'm glad the people are finally now realizing that.

That's the before, imaging what the "after" shots will look like.

No need to imagine, there's a lot of the completed restoration already unveiled. This picture is about a month old now, about 50% of the building is complete now:

Just imagine the burst of life three hotels within a structure like this is going to deliver to the area. There's literally a Blue Line station right there too so expect a higher than average portion of pedestrian trips for this building as well. Combine this with the Gateway development and you have a radical change for this quadrant of the IMD. If the Gateway hotel and residential towers break ground soon that's going to turn Ogden from a backwards auto sewer to an arterial lifeline connecting the IMD and West Loop... And Marshall Square/Douglas Park... Or should we call it "Studio Village" now as I saw it referred to in one MLS listing?

just don't look at the other side, which is considerably less beautiful. Not sure why they needed to stick whatever that is on the facing

^ It would be fantastic if they soon developed that lot with a block full of handsome buildings, thus leaving the south facade hidden within the newly created alley.

The annex wings lining the south side were rather handsome, or at least had the potential to be once again. To bad, they were knocked down.

Still, beyond happy that the north side is being restored. To think there was a time when this, OPO, and Uptown were in serious doubt. Not to count my chickens before they hatch on the Uptown.
