Oshawa ON...im a newb at posting...forgive me

First off, let me say that, after some tests, i couldnt embed my pictures at pbase into one of these threads....i heard that the problem is with pbase....is that true?

anyways, i do have a few photos from way back in 2003-04 of Oshawa, On...i have many many more, but stupid pbase again only let me post a limited number

http://www.pbase.com/bartzman/shwa

anyways, theres a link, i know we all prefer embedded photos, but theres not many pictures anyways, only 1 and a half pages.

now, a bit of background....Oshawa is a city of 150,000 on the eastern fringe of the greater Toronto area. Oshawa is best known as the home of General Motors Canada.

The city is often derided as "ghetto", but in truth, i don;t think the word "ghetto" encompasses things like mullets, 1978 cameros, lynard skynard 8 tracks and dirty trucker hats.

Oshawa is a typical blue collar, working-class town....and to be fair, it has some really pleasant areas of older estate homes and some shiney new upper-middle class suburbs that are some of the nation's fastest growing. Its not as pacticularlly dangerous as it may look, unless you find yourself drunk in a downtown alley at 4 in the morning on a friday

Welcome. I think photobucket has free accounts that you could use to post pics here. I've only been here for a year, but I don't think anyone's ever posted Oshawa pics before.

Oshawa's not dangerous at all, with the possible exception of near the lakefront... Downtown isn't bad, and neither are most other areas of town. At least that's the way it was when lots of my relatives lived there!

For the record, Oshawa's known for one other thing besides General Motors, that being the hometown of Eric Lindros, who of course is now nothing more than an oft-injured, obnoxious ass of a NHL player, but who certainly was pretty amazing during his best years.

nah, he mentioned oshawa's ontario league hockey team because the fans threw teddy bears on the ice or something and colbert hates bears...anyways, we now have an official "stephen colbert day" in oshawa

HAHAHA! I love it, bartzman!

Maybe the Oshawa fans were throwing those teddys originally at Lindros, then decided they'd start a new tradition by doing it all the time! Haha
