Downtown Phoenix from a new perspective...

I've been trying to catch the Phoenix skyline from I-10 Eastbound right past the I-17 interchange for a while and managed to get some good shots today. Also took a couple from the I-17 south of downtown.

These should wrap up the dedicated photography posts from me for a while...

Stunning! While the skyline still lacks for being the 5th largest city in the USA, I think Phoenix has a very underrated skyline...not to mention these shots don't include midtown and uptown.

Nice. Good bit of cranes hanging around.

I actually like Phoenix's skyline, and you captured some nice ones of her. Its true its not that tall or big for a city its size, yet I found it more impressive in person than what I've seen in photos.

It's getting better...

Where you see the tower crane in the middle, a 400' condo tower is currently going up which will fill in the space between the Chase and US Bank towers nicely. On the left, where there are two tower cranes, a 360' hotel tower is currently going up.
Finally, a 26 story 383' office tower is being planned directly to the left of the Chase tower which will fill in the gap between the 360' hotel and Chase.

There are also plans for 4 new towers, including possibly a new tallest, behind the US Bank tower and to the right of it in the picture...but that's a bit further out and not concrete yet.

Great shot! I also think the skyline could be bigger, considering the size of Phoenix.

Come on, be honest. That skyline lacks for the 14th largest MSA. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropo...atistical_Area )

But these are great photos of Phoenix. The angle really starts to give the illusion of signifigant density.

Thanks for the pics.

I guess this could be considered educational in some way.
It informs me that Phoenix has the smallest, most architecturally
insignificant skyline of any major city in the US.

I'm not trying to dissuade your new-found enlightenment, and you're probably right, but, there are a couple nice buildings in Phoenix. One being the City Hall building, which I know is actually praised by many architects. But I guess architectural significance is in the eye of the beholder.

This buiding has different details from nearly every angle, and it is built up against and combined with a grand old historic Orpheum theater
