It looks like it has a lot of potential!
Some of the old industrial plants in Hamilton have been redeveloped. One was turned into
studio and work space tailored to the arts, another has become a
business park that will retain some of the original factory buildings. McMaster University is about to transform another large plant that's been empty for decades into what will be called
The Glass Warehouse, as part of its
Innovation Park.
There are still many of those hulks around town though, or land that sits empty after the buildings were demolished but in need of expensive remediation.
I wouldn't want to see them turned into condos (in a few cases that may work) but if they can be reborn as commercial/industrial properties it would be such a great thing for the sites and the cities!
