Just for fun, I will venture a guess (and it is totally a guess, because I have absolutely zero inside information): Nordstroms is somehow taking over the Sears site, which will be redeveloped.

I'll predict that a major mutli-phased development or two are leaked neither of which are downtown...

Given Leftcoaster's previous hints, I sure hope this is the case!

There definitely could be some office involved...

Hmm, I suppose that is absolutely true.

Either way you guys will know when it is released and unfortunately I can't say anything more on it until then. Only reason I said anything is I know how people here (including myself) love to speculate on this sort of thing.

Art Gallery taking over Canada Post? Nevermind, too logical.

Vancouver's Turn actually starting construction with office instead of condo space?

No wait, my fantasy....... Sears is being demolished, and rebuilt as a 210 meter tall office tower with a 5 to 10 story retail podium, which will be anchored by the Japanese department store "LOFT" and 1 floor UNICLO. The outside of the podium will have lighting effects and a digital billboard or two facing Robson and Granville. This entire project will also be directly connected to Pacific Centre and skytrain underground.

There.

Geoff Meggs is the named the Director of Planning? lol

My guess would be Oakridge. They've been cooking up something big (large, not BIG) for a while.

Oakridge wouldn't really be big news would it? We already know Westbank is a partner and the density/heights,etc are generally already set out in the policy statement...we just don't know the timing. Would definitely be cool if BIG or another non-Vancouver based architects was involved though.
