The midrise centre left in that last shot - is it still there or demolished for Sutton Place? The road its on was, I think, diverted to connect to Smithe.

i.e. a modified version of the perimeter expressway proposed in the 60s or 70s (which some at City Hall (like the viaducts)) have a continuing dislike for (hence the "taming" wioth the "multi-way" concept , bike lanes and future streetcar narrowing the overall RoW).
