Construction update - Smaller projects

Ni hao,

I just moved to Taipei at the beginning of September, so you can expect regular construction updates from me in the next few months.

It looks like none of these projects has its own thread so far, that's why I decided to open a thread for all smaller projects that are currently u/c in Taipei.

If you have any more information about these projects or any wishes for construction updates of a particular project, just let me know.

That's awesome, Raptor. I had the time of my life living in Taiwan. Enjoy! I'm looking forward to all the updates.

One more thing; why does Taipei allow such low density in Xinyi. They touted it as Taiwan's Wall St. yet most new office towers barely get above 25 floors.

Some updates I took recently.

Xinyi:

Next to the President Enterprise Corporation Tower. Looks like it could be around 200m, however there is activity on the plot yet.

I recently discovered this one in the middle of Ximen. The name seems to be Taipei Tower Square and it looks like a smaller version of the Burj Dubai (~30F). Construction work is already underway.

oh gawd. dont tell me it's another copy cat of burj dubai! there's already one in sun moon lake. and it's a bad copy too. the only part that looks like burj dubai are the big white arcs. the rest of the building is a typical boxy building.

why dont they just hire the architects of burj dubai to design a completely different but just as cool building if they like their design so much? oh yea. taiwanese are cheap. just copy copy copy. and they dont even copy well. at least in architecture.

^ they always do that. I recall that there was a condo development that also copied Burj Dubai!

Damn...I took that previous photo of the Taipei Tower Square about 3 weeks ago and back then it was still at ground level. When I walked past the site yesterday the steel was already up 6 floors in some places!!!

This building will definitely dominate Ximen once it is topped out, seeing as the neighbourhood doesn't really have a building with more than 15 floors so far.

That "cheap" is the key point. How much money to hire international architecture? I don't think many taiwanese developers have enough capital or have mind to hire international architecture, espeically residentail developers. This development is a residential development rather than commerical development, thereby they are so cheap on design.

However, some big companies have started to hired international architecture due to compeition in real esate market. They need some unique products. But these residential towers still in proposed stage.

Crystal Tower, Shilin District

They finally have put up a sign with a name (Crystal Tower) and it seems to be a residential tower. Other than that I don't really have any more information about it, but it's now definitely the tallest building in the Shilin district.

Xinyi District

A new building is also rising quickly in the eastern part of Xinyi

Taipei Tower Square, Ximen

Hard to believe, but one year from now this tower will dominate the western part of Tapei together with the Shin Kong Life Tower.

Qin Mei Zhen Pu , NE edge of Daan Park (32F)

New residential tower at the northeastern corner of Daan Park. I counted 32 floors.

SW edge of Daan Park

Eastern Xinyi

As you can see a couple of posts above I posted a photo of 2 new residential towers u/c in my last update from the Taipei 101 observation deck. Finally here's an update from the streetlevel.
