Much thanks chaps, always appreciative of comments.
I have been very busy with work and family life, but now I work partly from home so I can when I'm free 'tinker' with Cinema 4D. I practically never opened it for nearly a year, but I'm sure some of you may be familiar with that withdrawl feeling where you get itchy feet and just have to go back to designing stuff in 3D. Anyway the 3D drug got the better of me and I have been playing about the last couple of weeks.
I started off thinking about how to generate a supersize city using basic blocks and buildings 'instanced' to the extreme. In effect making a huge 3D city backdrop to much more detailed construction modelling of skyscraper designs. The one think I kind want to achieve is actual construction stories of new designs which are currently on paper and inside my head. I don't want
just grey block backdrops, I want an actual living, breathing city. This thereby makes the under construction renders of the 'building' much more realistic.
This then made me think of the 'Detailed City Project'. The one issue I have with this is its taking so Frakking long to make. So If I complete just a few more local blocks and then merge my idea of a repeated block approach to the surrounding context I can then concentrate on actual under construction building designs within a realistic, actual large scale backdrop.
This is all still long term stuff and not going to happen overnight, but the first thing I need to do is finish the block I have already begun about 18 months ago. So a quick render of an apartment building which i have made just to get familiar again with modelling and rendering. Onwards and upwards....
