Nice shots, beautiful city.

I seem to remember hearing that some eccentric family is holding onto an extremely large parcel of land on the outskirts of the city that is literally worth billions of dollars. Perhaps that parcel is under those trees somewhere...

Pine (short leaf and long leaf)
Oak - several varieties including Southern Red Oak, White Oak, Black Oak and Water Oak to name a few.
Tulip Poplar
Dogwood
Magnolia
Sassafras
Hickory

There are many others, but these are the ones that come to mind.

I especially like the Pines of which many people here do not like and I often see them being removed from peoples yards. Several times I have stopped to ask why they are taking them out and the response is almost always the same - they are the first trees to topple over in thunderstorms or, in the winter, ice storms. I love how they add some green color to the area during the winter months.

ATLksuGUY, wow. I went to Atlanta and its surrounding area in 1999, and these pictures definitely bring back positive memories. I remember looking at the skyline (albeit, sort of far away) from the top of stone mountain. I can't believe stone mountain! where did it come from?? sticking out like that out of acres and acres and acres of trees. and skyscrapers. absolutely beautiful. This coming from someone who lives in Chicago

Granite outcroppings are common throughout the Piedmont. Stone Mountain is the result of a granite bulge which has been exposed over the millenia by the erosion of surrounding soils.

These shots of Atlanta are absoluetly gorgeous. I love this prespective of the city in how it captures Stone Mountain in the Buckhead shots. Most Atlantans take our tree cover for granted. I think it adds to the appeal of the metro area.

Beautiful shots

I believe the water oak is the most common tree in atlanta.
I worked for a landscaper in my college days and hated cleaning up those tiny water oak leaves- what a pain!
I think the Spring is usually much better than the Fall.
