Wow this is a surprising thread. My cousin and his gf (her being Columbian) keep trying to get me to vacation this summer in Bogota. After seeing this thread im defntly considering the trip.

I hope you don't mind, it's just so refreshing to see a side of my country that we as Colombians many times ignore, in our efforts to portray only the most developed face of our country...

Cartagena aesthetically looks like it should belong somewhere in the Carribean compared with Bogota. However one negative about Cartagena, is alot more "touristy" as well compared with Bogota (be prepared to have people come up to you trying to sell you stuff).

Overall those two cities are fun places to visit.

Let me know if you go again, or if you have more photos of people doing their thing...my partner was born and orphaned in Bogota; adopted at age 7 and has no real birthday or connection to any possible family there. He'd love to go back as an adult but of course could not afford it, but I think it might help for him to remember a time during his life he has largely forgotten...and maybe he would like to return to Bogota someday for some closure. I'd love to go as well.
