Does anyone out there know if the new Convention Center Hotel will be steel-based or will it be concrete like Liberty sky???

Updated images of 95 State I took yesterday:

Steel rising!

The new canopy on Social Hall Plaza is starting to rise as well (I'll try to get a picture inside when I can)

Thanks Bob for capturing some good street level shots on 95.

Yikes, Just had an earthquake here in L.A! Very brief, only a few seconds and I guess shallow. It was like a giant blast had gone off that shook the house violently for a brief moment. My floor lamp next to the desk was teetering back and forth. What was wierd was the sound of blasts rolling away from the house further and further into the distance...6:49a.m. an aftershock just hit...Never a dull moment in L.A.

So, back to normal. Has anyone heard what the status is on this project? Dead, new owners and still a go, whatever?

The block 200 proposal is for sure much better than what is there now. I don't like the driveway as current proposed. I don't think that is appropriate for the area. It seems to me it should be on a podium and the cafe they currently have recessed should be at street. While I wish the design was more creative it otherwise is a big step forward.

The driveway seems to be kind of a luxury feature. I can see where it would be convenient for dropoffs, tenants and visitors arriving via something like Uber etc.

I'm just wondering if someone like UTPlanner or Makid might know if its scheduled to begin construction or has been put on an indefinite hold.

I like to pretend that this building is an art museum, it would make for a great one. I know it’s not the best building but it was cutting edge at the time of construction. I’d much rather keep it than have it bulldozed for something shorter.

Yeah it's kinda SLC's square, empty version of the NYC Guggenheim museum. I doubt that comparison carries over to the inside, though.

That project is dead. The construction costs vs. the land values just didn't work for them. A different group is looking at rehabbing the building and punching holes in the ground floor walls to add some windows. Not sure how serious they are at the moment.

Berkadia just released their Second Quarter Salt Lake City multifamily housing construction pipeline report yesterday.

Q2 Report: https://www.berkadia.com/wp-content/..._Optimized.pdf

Also, they still list Block 200 (#53) as 'planned' in their report.

Another great update! Thanks RC14...

I've got to start checking in with BuildingSaltLake.com more often. Here's a new major project going up at the Parking Lot behind the Masonic Temple on South Temple. Just reported by Luke Garrott today.

Sydney & Slate

Was this posted before?

Urban Alfrande is the company that the head of Granary Row is with (James Alfrande, I believe).

It looks like it was approved in April. So, we should be seeing this getting a building permit soon I presume.

I assume this was an older design. Anybody know?

Well considering Alec Burks, Gordon Hayward, and every other Jazz player on that screen are long gone. I would say it is quite old.

I am fairly sure that this was the original plan for Phase 1 on block 67. This design was changed when the overall block 67 picture became clearer.

I think the original plan was an 8 or 10 story apartment building and a 6 story hotel.

Phase 1, currently under construction, will see an 11 story apartment building and an 11 story hotel directly to the south.

Phase 2 is slated to start demolition as soon as the Post Office lease expires in 2023/2024 if I remember right.

Haha, that was my thought as well. It looks like Derrick Favors, Alec Burkes, Gordon Hayward, Enes Kanter, and Trey Burke. The Core 4 (plus Burke)
