I know if there was any news someone would post it it here but has there been any whispers about the Reid Murdoch project or 130 Franklin? Or should we consider both of those just about dead. I suppose we will hear more after 110 Wacker gets built?

I think Tishman Speyer is still looking for a tenant and I think they want a tenant that will make the building its corporate headquarters. Towards the bottom of the project page on their website it states:
"130 North Franklin presents a singular opportunity for a company to create a unique, tailor-made corporate headquarters."

As for Reid Murdoch, honestly I had forgotten about that project lol

Yeah, I know. I talked to one of the architects on the Reid Murdoch project a few months ago. She said that the project was still on the table, but that the developer hadn't committed to doing it yet. She said it was a little iffy. She also stated that if the project was a go then there would be significant design changes.

That Equinox design by Ferris and Partners is nice. Good that the West Loops is seeing such a tall tower. Hopefully more infill can occur within Greek Town.

Not sure if this has been posted before, but it has some good renderings of potential West Loop high rises.

^ I completely forgot about that proposal. Would've been nice to see that crown lit at night.

That 2 story existing structure's days are numbered. That land has to be worth quite a bundle, especially considering it sits right at an L stop. I only hope whatever replaces it makes a statement in the skyline.

Agreed it would of looked amazing at night. And yes that location is a perfect site for another high-rise to impact the skyline. A nice maybe 800-1100 ft tall residential looking over the forest of highrises in the loop and standing out along with aon/trump/vista/sears/ would go good there especially since since there is a L stop right there. Let me dream.

I'm pretty sure the developer filed bankruptcy. What a shame it was a great design and great vision. But something needs to happen on this site.

Neighborhood Opportunity Fund

Emanuel's developer upcharge fee for neighborhood development raking in cash faster than expected

Quote:
In a letter to Emanuel written last week, Planning Commissioner David Reifman said more than $50 million in such fees are expected to be paid into the mayor’s fund this year.
Quote:
In his memo, Reifman also looked beyond 2018 by estimating payments tied to projects that are planned or proposed. For example, the 1,388-foot mega-skyscraper planned for the parking lot behind Tribune Tower would pay an estimated $13.6 million into the fund, the Chicago Tribune recently reported.

When such proposed projects are taken into consideration, Reifman estimated developers of 47 new buildings could pay $106 million into Emanuel’s neighborhood fund.
It will be interesting to follow the usage of these funds.
