^ Nice pics... it's weird to see the residence coming down considering that at only 30 years old or so, it's practically brand new by downtown Winnipeg standards.

Thanks, Biff. Impressive foresight on the part of RWB to put the footings in place 35 years ago for a building that will only be realized now. Kind of makes me wonder why they didn't just put the residence there in the first place, though? Or was that space originally intended for future expansion of the actual studios/RWB school facility?

Also, not sure what's going on at TNS 2. TNSE is moving their offices in and on top of the walkway they've pulled out a window and established some framing for an area on the roof. Talked to my man and he didn't know for sure but thought maybe that they needed to get material in to that construction space which can't go up the elevators.

The lack of footprints on the Sutton site is shocking honestly... They don't appear to even have the skeleton crew of 5-10 that were playing around with stuff for the last year~

The old RWB residence was actually quite large – I can't see how a 2.5/3 storey building in the small space they opened up in the parkade will suffice. Unless it is going on top of the rest of the parkade?

I presume it's going to be built on top of the parkade the same way that the main building to the north is... if they do it that way, then there's plenty of room. And it looks as though it were designed that way, i.e. the parkade looks like was meant to provide footings for an eventual expansion.

They did something along the front, with the extra piles that were put in, for a specific reason. Maybe it's an entryway, building core type thing they needed to do as the existing columns weren't in the proper location. It's hard to see exactly, but they took down the parkade structure itself in that area.

Otherwise It would seem the entire parkade could be built upon as was mentioned. The small area they've been working on is no where near equivalent to what they had in the other residence. Unless they go 10 storeys high.

But I don't understand, this very same company said building a building on top of a parkade is too expensive, so we got this pile of shit. And this one didn't even have to deal with an existing structure!

^ Well... I suppose RWB paid for the foundation and footings a long time ago, so they're just taking advantage of them now.

Yes, the RWB parkade was built to accommodate something on top. (Like a number of other structures in Winnipeg)

Annnnd they're done.
Took a little longer than I'd thought but separating everything out is time-consuming.

How do you guys feel about having a new thread for the Sutton Hotel and Residences, and another thread for the Wawanesa building? I find it easier to navigate smaller threads and find renders and info when its not lumped together with a a thread started in 2015. The first two buildings have been complete for a long time now and their construction really isn't related to these projects.
