Cool perspective. I assume the yellow grasslands is where the zombies are hiding out before launching their assault on the city.

Yellow grasslands.... The wheat fields?

They'll freeze solid in winter.

Work with me here Nathan, yellow grasslands is more dramatic than wheat fields. I’ve also taken literary license and replaced the farmers with zombies. And I know about freezing to death in Regina - I walked around one February night when it was -38 out without the wind chill to find a liquor store.

London's skyline is really great viewed from a train window... on the way in, on the way through, and on the way out after departure from the downtown station.

The downside is they could carb-load enough to carry themselves through the harsh weather.....

And walking around at night in -38... That was basically all of February this year, except all day too.

ANYTHING that saves you from walking around downtown London is a good thing - hadn't done that in a while - did it last week - what a sad state of affairs and mess - Dundas ripped up, mall that is no longer a mall, no vibrant retail and more homeless than actual residents - not what I remembered from the 90s! The restaurant scene however is impressive - so here's hoping things are on a rebound!

Downtown London is still not a bad downtown. Much safer than ours in Timmins.

London is different because it has really nice areas on the edge of downtown like Richmond Row that attract people but the central part of downtown isn't as attractive.

Here in Timmins we have no money to fix up anything. London obviously has cash if it's fixing up Dundas. I don't know what the plans are but I'm sure it will look much nicer than before.

Lots of Canadian cities are like that though, large and mid-size and even small ones. They all have similar social challenges, at scales that vary with population count.

London isn't any different.

You can't really judge downtown London right now because Dundas & Talbot Streets are completely ripped up due to both becoming "flex streets". The parts that are now done look very handsome.

The downtown big mall, Galleria London, suffered what many mid-size city malls did when Eaton's closed down which anchored many of them. The mall will never be the one it once was but actually it was London that pioneered the repurposing of their downtown mall which most cities then followed. The first big move to keep the huge mall from being vacant was moving their Central Library there and also opening movie theatres, educational institutions, and work spaces.

Yes it's true London is a VERY good restaurant city and has a lot of sidewalk cafes and patios downtown, in Wortley Village, and especially along Richmond Row.

Halifax, looking southwest at the southern part of the downtown skyline.

Only a quasi-skyline shot but here's a not-too-frequently seen view of Gottingen Street with the Nova Centre off in the distance. Telephoto would have made a big difference here.

The ferry looks so tiny it almost seems like a False Creek water taxi.
