There is the site it was on ^

Go there, push Ctrl F, type in Hamilton, and click the link it highlights. That might work.

check out the size of that industrial core. just massive in relation to the rest of the lower city

you can also see Gage park which looks like a mini central park as well as Tim Hortons Field Under Construction

Gage Park doesn't seem to have enough highrises for a Central Park look.

The Stelco property alone looks like it would completely cover the whole of downtown. A bit frightening, really.

When the time comes someday in 2400 to develop that area it's going to be hella contaminated.

^ Probably going to need Provincial, Federal and Municipal funding to do brownfield clean up for Stelco land. Gotta be way over a billion maybe even $2 billion to clean that whole piece of land.

I won't be surprised if Stelco starts selling off land as early as next year. They are under bankruptcy protection again. They'll need to shrink if they ever want to survive again and all that land is costing them millions in property taxes.

Yes while actually US Steel Canada, but hey isn't Skydome now Rogers Centre? haha. Some things will never change even if they try.

Like all the people who still call the Mac's convenience store chain 'Macs Milk' even though its name was changed to just 'Mac's' almost 40 years ago.

Thunder Bay is down to just one mill, so even though it's gone through 6 name changes in my life time (3 in the past 5 years) we just call it The Mill at this point. There is no longer any ambiguity.

I imagine it won't be long before that happens in Hamilton as well.

I dunno Stelco and Dofasco officially changed names a decade ago and everyone I know still refers to them by those names.

I know i'll always refer to them by those names. There's still Taylor Steel around and many other smaller players in the Steel business in Hamilton, referring to one location as "the mill" would get ppl confused.

Because of how contaminated it is, how much it will cost to clean up and how potentially beautiful that harbour front area could be if the remediation gets paid for.
