Belleville, Ontario...sun, snow and grit.

I took most of these pics in January......before winter started! The choppy Bay of Quinte is now frozen tight and covered with snow.
Belleville is an hour and a half east of Toronto on the 401, and has a population of 46,000.

B-Ville in da house!

That's quite a cluster of high-rise slabs for a city of that size.

The downtown looks like it could be doing a little better, but there's a definite urban look to it which I like.

Finally we see Belleville! I've only passed through. It looks like an old industrial city.

No casino. Locals have taken to calling it that for some reason.

Nice tour. I have some alcohol fuelled memories of the Friendly City going back to the 80s.

Let's recap: a harbor, some talls, grit, rows, some classic old homes, industry, the arts, and to top it off.........adult entertainment. Yep, works for me. Thanks for sharing your city with us Mark. Actually looks bigger than 46,000 to me.

btw, what the heck are you doing in Canada in January when you could be in Hamilton (Bermuda) on a beach?

It is -3 degrees F this morning and I am wondering the same thing Tom!
Actually Belleville is a great place to live....and I've had enough beaching....and skin cancer, to last me a lifetime!

And Hozay....they are going to build a huge racetrack/casino in Belleville, and although there has been lots of controversy about the project, I understand that construction is due to start shortly.

Quite a lot of high rises for such a medium-sized town. Interesting exhibit.
