DHarper6, your ideas on a photo "tour along Allen Parkway or Memorial Drive as one approaches downtown" is great. We'll be getting some new bikes soon. Perhaps we'll park in Memorial Park and take a bike ride to DT and back and take some photos on the way.
And Glowrock, I tried to get to the top of the parking garage at Marathon, but it was a Sunday and those guys had the garage all locked up.

Just go during a weekday if possible (even on a Saturday!), and get up to that cafeteria... As I said, freaking amazing views!
